PARODA APIE TYLĄ, VIENATVĘ IR TRIUKŠMĄ TARP JŲ

Aš esu Arijus Katauskas – fotografas, komunikacijos specialistas ir, visų pirma, stebėtojas. Daugiau nei du dešimtmečius dirbdamas su viešąja erdve, istorijomis ir žinutėmis, vis labiau mačiau, kaip keičiasi žmogaus ryšys su pasauliu. Kaip ekranai tyliai perima dėmesį, kaip pokalbiai virsta „skrolinimu“, o buvimas šalia – paraleliniu buvimu vienas šalia kito, bet ne kartu.

Fotografija man tapo būdu sustoti. Sustoti ir užfiksuoti tai, kas kasdien lengvai praslysta pro akis. Mano miestas kadruose tampa scena be vaidmenų – žmonės tiesiog yra: įnikę, atsijungę, kartais labai arti vienas kito, kartais – beviltiškai toli, nors fiziškai tik per žingsnį.

Neturiu tikslo moralizuoti, smerkti ar aiškinti, „kaip reikėtų gyventi“. Man svarbiausia būti šalia, tyliai, neiškraipant to, kas vyksta. Fiksuoju žmones ir jų santykį su aplinka. Žmones, tokius pat kaip ir aš – nes eidamas gatve be fotoaparato pats žiūriu į telefoną. Ši serija yra apie mus visus, ne apie „kitus“.

SLINKTYS man nėra manifestas ar teismo nuosprendis. Tai tylus klausimas apie laiką, ryšį ir tylą triukšmo fone. Apie tai, kaip atrodo pasaulis, kai pagaliau pakeli akis nuo ekrano ir pasižiūri į jį – ir vienas į kitą. Ar tai ta bedugnė, kuri pažiūri į tave?

I am Arijus Katauskas – a photographer, communications specialist and, above all, an observer. For more than two decades working with public space, stories and messages, I’ve been watching how our relationship with the world is changing. How screens quietly take over our attention, how conversations turn into scrolling, and how being next to each other becomes a kind of parallel existence – side by side, but not together.

Photography has become a way for me to stop. To pause and capture what usually slips past our eyes. In my frames, the city turns into a stage without roles – people simply are: absorbed, disconnected, sometimes very close to each other, sometimes desperately far away, even if physically only a step apart.

I have no intention to moralize, judge or explain “how we should live”. What matters to me is to be next to people, quietly, without distorting what is happening. I record people and their relationship with their surroundings. People just like myself – because when I walk down the street without a camera, I also look at my phone. This series is about all of us, not about “others”.

For me, SLINKTYS is not a manifesto or a verdict. It is a quiet question about time, connection and silence in the background of noise. About how the world looks when you finally lift your eyes from the screen and look at it – and at each other. Is it that abyss that looks back at you?
